Scouts Canada 1st Dorchester Group

For over 80 years, Scouting has been a part of Dorchester and has been sponsored by St. Peter's Anglican Church. 1st Dorchester Group has 5 youth sections, ranging from ages 5 to 26. Since 1998, ALL Scouting Sections in Canada are Co-Ed!

The sections meet weekly from September to June, with additional special programs and events throughout the Summer. The bulk of registration occurs during the Fall, and the beginning of January, however youth can register at any time throughout the year by registering online at

  • Beaver Scouts (ages 5-7)
  • Cub Scouts (ages 8-10)
  • Scouts (ages 11-14)
  • Venture Scouts (ages 15-17)
  • Rover Scouts (ages 18-26)

For over 30 years the 1st Dorchester Scouting Group has sponsored one of the largest annual camping events in Canada; Dorchester International Brotherhood Camporee (DIBC). With approximately 3500 Campers, over the Mother’s Day Weekend mid-May Dorchester is abuzz with Scouting Energy. There is also the Dorchester Cub Camporee, with over 1000 Campers, on the last weekend in September, and Genesis Ventmoot, with 600 Campers, in November.

In addition to Scout specific events, 1st Dorchester Scouting Group takes pride in connecting with the community through various Community Events; Earth Day Campfire at the end of April, Carnival and Touch a Truck at the end of August, where kids and kids at heart can play games and get up close to some of our local businesses equipment and vehicle, and The Haunted Barn in October. We strive for the majority of our Community Events to be free of charge as we are proud to give back to the community that has always been there for us.
